The new 2019/20 Völkl Racetiger RC is very stable and designed for medium and long turns. All our testers agreed that stability and performance were the strengths of this German ski. “This ski is stable at high speed,” said Francesca Rudisi. “It has great ski- snow contact if you stay on top of it,” according to Laura Jardi. It is “very stable throughout the turn,” said Lorenzo Medici. Giovanni Manfrini thought it was “also stable in heavy snow or windblown snow.” Alex Favaro said that the downside of this great performance is that the construction is very heavy for the Carvers category, and it makes carved turns difficult. Laura Jardi thought that it was “difficult to pivot, in part because the front of the ski is a bit heavy.” Francesco Tavella commented that “it was not very maneuverable in tight spots.” In short, the ski is a bit too difficult for the intermediate skier it is aimed towards. In particular, the beginning of turn is fairly demanding and will not instill confidence in skiers trying to improve their technique. Therefore, we don’t recommend this ski to intermediates, but rather to skiers who can already carve but don’t want a ski that is too technical. It is for skiers who are looking for a frontside ski that is stable in long turns.
