Testers' Ratings

The most accessible carving freeride board in this line, with great on-snow feel when edging. Edge change is mellow, ensuring freeride comfort.

In Nidecker’s carving line, the Area offers something different in a generally more versatile segment. It’s very accessible both in terms of budget and level, and is less radical than its older siblings, entering carves less rapidly and preserving skid turns when switching from one turn to the next. Steering is relatively natural and easy. The balanced design helps to distribute pressure in turns. Off the groomers, the excellent on-snow contact makes the board especially agreeable at medium speed on bumpy terrain. It will quickly reach its limits when you step up the pace though, but at this price, you can’t expect the full-throttle charge of its big sisters. It remains consistent underfoot no matter what the circumstances and will give confidence to intermediate riders who want to enjoy the sensations of carving while retaining a comfortable all terrain approach.
